ROWAN 2 years | Ambiguous (AFAB) | Giant Schnauzer | N/A PERSONALITY_ - Charismatic, Perceptive, Sociable Having lived among other dogs for her entire life, Rowan is a very gregarious individual, friendly and outgoing with no fear or shyness toward interacting with others. She is socially fearless and undaunted, approaching conversation with the same vigor and enthusiasm that she approaches everything else with. She can be a little forceful in this way, bold and domineering with a tendency to dominate conversation, but she’s generally easy to like, charming and very likable. She is a clever girl so she can figure out how to make anyone like her and can change her mannerisms to some degree to fit any situation. She’s an excellent liar. - Resigned, Patient, Careful On top of being friendly and approachable, Rowan is renowned for her incredible tact and patience. She seems on the surface to be tolerable and easygoing, always masking her emotions for the sake of the general feel and flow of things. She seems on the surface to avoid conflict and is an excellent mediator, cautious and careful with others emotions and with their opinions. She’s receptive and considerate in a way that is invaluable in a pack situation. But it is important to note that this is a front that she puts on. Rowan does absolutely get offended and make social mistakes and sometimes even purposefully causes discourse for her own selfish purposes. She just hides that she is doing that extremely well, coming off extremely cooperative and sociable instead. But this is how she is most tactful, she can play the long game extremely well and can keep up an act for years to get what she wants. Her dedication to an idea is incredible. - Enthusiastic, Passionate, Devoted Probably the first thing that others notice about Rowan is her enthusiastic, excited, passionate manner. When she does something, she does it with an intensity and vigor that is simply unmatched. She is not known for her half measures, and is instead an all or nothing type of individual, giving every activity 150% of her abilities 100% of the time. This can be problematic sometimes, as she tends to be serious and unnecessarily intense, willing to sacrifice literally anything in the pursuit of a particular goal. She is obsessive and complete in her desires and, once she has latched onto something, she would rather die than let go. This single-mindedness is somewhat impractical and can make her resistant to change, but it also means she is reliable, diligent, and resourceful, able to apply all of her strongest traits to solve a problem and being stubborn and unrelenting in her pursuit of success. - Long-Suffering, Relentless, Unforgiving Though when speaking to Rowan most dogs report her as being actually pretty gracious and easygoing, this is a front that she puts on, her innermost workings kept a well guarded secret. She absolutely does get offended, she absolutely does suffer and hurt, and she absolutely does seek retribution for misgivings. But she does so quietly, patiently, carefully, able to wait months or even years for the right time to strike at someone. She is very petty and vengeful on the inside, with a devotion to her own personal grudges that is simply unmatched in other dogs. She also has an incredible long term memory span, she never forgets anything, but especially not when she has been slighted in any way. - Spiteful, Vengeful, Ruinous Rowan is extremely unforgiving in her pursuits, if you get in her way she will never forget it or let it go. Even the smallest misstep is enough to break her trust of someone and, once her lines have been crossed, she will single-mindedly seek revenge for it. She is absolutely cruel and brutal in all of her pursuits but especially in her desire for others to pay for what has happened to her. She is also relatively desensitized to violence and sickening scenes due to her time in a puppy mill. She watched other dogs tear themselves apart, and just thinks in those terms now, intense and incredibly violent. Thankfully, she keeps this a secret from most other dogs, being this angry and hateful creature only inside her own mind. Outwardly, she pretends to be friendly and cordial even with her enemies, better to catch them off guard if they do not know something is wrong. - Obsessive, Intense, Possessed Rowan is always something of a ‘dog with a bone’. Once she gets an idea in her mind and decides to pursue it, there is nothing that can derail her from that thought or concept. She is intense in her pursuits, thorough and obsessive with little else on her mind when something has her attention. She hyperfocuses, even on a good day or when presented with good things. But she is far more likely to see and become obsessed with the negative side of reality, always feeling like it is her responsibility to fix what is broken. She is a little self-absorbed in that way, willing to destroy everyone and anyone around her for the sake of an ideal of hers, because she is always right and that is just it. The more dogs that accept this, the better life will be for everyone. HISTORY_ One of the millions of dogs born in puppy mills each year, Rowan had it rough the first year of her life. She was crammed in a small cage with six or seven other dogs, spent her entire puppyhood on concrete, she didn’t even know what the sky looked like until she was an adult. She lived in filth, covered in feces, watching her siblings die one by one from anything from Parvovirus to starvation to fighting with each other, often having to battle her fellow dog for what little food there was. But despite all of that, she remained hopeful that as they got older, things would get better. More of them would die and make more space for the living, and she remained optimistic that one day they’d even go outside. However, it all came crashing down on her when she was about 18 months old, when it was decided that her unique coloration made her desirable breeding stock. Her mother was demoted as the prime breeder and instead Rowan was given privileged treatment, given a larger cage and not kept in such crowded conditions. It was still bad but it was better. Her mother, having descended into madness over the years, was furious and at her first opportunity she broke out and attempted to upend the helpless Rowan, who killed her mother in self-defense. While this was a totally justified killing, Rowan had a hard time with it, she’d loved her mother and her siblings despite their rough treatment. But something in her broke that day and her hopeful optimism grew into this self-assured ax crazy mannerism, where she was always right and as long as she was in charge and others listened to her, everything would turn out alright. She went on to dismantle the mill and freed all of the other dogs living in its confines, where they proceeded to scatter across the city. The mill was a small operation and the disappearance of humanity allowed the dogs to break their chains and confines of their cages. Finally, she was able to touch grass for the first time and see the sky for the first time. Sure, most of the dogs that were following her have scattered, leaving her a little lost and confused, looking for companionship. But that’s okay, at least she is finally free, a pleasurable joy that she would like to give others if she could find anyone. Finding herself in a field with no direction, she is currently following the scent and promise of other dogs in a building nearby, but when the ground starts to shake and the world turns around, she finds the building has crumbled. Hopefully some dogs are still alive inside. |
