MARLOWE PERSONALITY_ Clever and Quick-Witted, Marlowe is a firecracker of a dog, sharp as a whip with a smart mouth to match. He thinks quickly and is light on his feet, good at brainstorming and coming up with quick ideas or quick fixes for small problems. He does not generally have the time, patience or focus for bigger issues and can be a little impatient and impulsive in this way. But during times of stress or fast action, his brain is the only thing that can keep up with his tireless energy and boisterous spirit. Sharp and Charismatic, he is a smart dog above all else and he knows it to boot. A smooth talker with a lot to say and a lot on his mind, he is never quiet in a conversation and tends to dominate discussions with his knowledge of the streets and his ability to recall experiences. Though he can remember events very well, he does not follow directions very well or remember things like names, lists or small details, he’s more of a big picture guy. Bold and Energetic, it’s difficult to keep up with Marlowe. He is a young dog in the prime of his life so he is physically fit and well muscled from life on the streets. But he is also just an energized and enthusiastic young man with a lot of personality crammed into his compact frame. He has the bravado of a dog three times his size and is fearless in the face of danger, wanting to prove himself to be the best of the best at all things. He is ambitious and dauntless, courageous and brazen. But he does not like water very much and does not know how to swim so he has his moments of fear, despite being a generally fearless individual. Arrogant and Egotistical, Marlowe is an impressive dog and he absolutely knows it and believes this to his very core. He’s terribly full of himself and thinks very highly of himself, which can be very difficult to tolerate in conversation or in pack life as he tends to ignore the commands of authority figures in favor of his own ideals. He thinks he’s always right and always knows best and is always eager to show off how right he is about everything, leading ultimately to lots of failure with an audience and making him very easy to dislike because he is so self-centered. Argumentative and Opinionated, Marlowe is notorious for his tendency to stick it to the man, so to speak. He loves to blow off commands and ignores authority figures whenever he gets the opportunity, simply believing himself to know better than they do, even when they are older and wiser than him, he simply likes to disagree. He’s also not afraid of conflict and will gladly voice his opinion and talks over others very rudely sometimes, making it difficult to work with him in a team environment. He wants to be a pack dog, but life on his own has not taught him much respect for others and it shows in his behavior. Combative and Belligerent, Marlowe does not fear a good fight, if anything he lives for it. A compact but muscular dog, he was designed for hunting and fighting, and having lived a life scrapping on the streets, competing with other strays for food and shelter, he is a seasoned fighter with a quick mind and a lot of experience for his young age. His ears are torn to show that he’s been around the block a few times with others and his clever mind is full of ideas on how to hurt his opponents should they need to take a good licking to see things his way, he is very forceful and is not at all below the idea of using his teeth to get his point across in a conversation. Despite this, he is only about 21 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs around 65 lbs, so he is not a super large dog, medium-large sized at best. There are plenty of animals out there who could easily humble him in a fight. He just seems to be in denial that this is the case. HISTORY_ Marlowe was originally bred in a different country, far far away from the one in which he currently lives. He doesn’t remember much of his homeland, but he does retain some of the accent from where he was bred and uses a lot of foreign slang and euphemisms, despite remembering and knowing very little about where he was born. He was sold as a puppy and shipped overseas to live with an old dog breeder in a city further east, but when the old man had him tested, he saw things that he did not like in the puppy’s genealogy. So he never bred Marlowe and instead kind of discarded him in the back of the kennel, rarely training him or taking him out to spend time with the other dogs. So when Marlowe escaped as a young dog, perhaps around six months old or so, the man never sought to retrieve him in any way. So Marlowe was left to wander the world as he saw fit. He quickly left that city and moved on, using his incredible intelligence to learn human patterns and travel with them communally. He rode on trains, caught rides in trucks, and sometimes just walked from place to place as he needed to, never really staying in one area for long. Whenever there were other males around, he just kind of… bounced. He arrived in the Ravaged City just before the earthquake hit. Originally, his plan was to leave after that disaster struck, to follow the humans and hobos he bummed around with as they moved onto other places. But he was stopped by his hormones and his nature as a dog. Something in him longs for companionship of those of his own kind. He saw very few dogs on his journeys generally, save for a few fights and squabbles over things like food. His experience with other dogs was very little growing up and now he feels like he is missing something, something that this city seemed to be promising him. There are a lot of dogs here, like… a lot of dogs. And, curious and forever the adventurer, he would like to find out why and what gives and why on earth the ground moves here! What is that nonsense?! |
